Grace Moerman
Maid of Honor
After a bold swipe right on Roommate Tinder, Grace and I were matched as
freshman roommates in the Honors dorms at CSU. What started as a roommate
jackpot quickly became a forever friendship, filled with late nights catching
each other up on the previous 18 years of our lives, researching the signs of
mold poisoning in a dorm room, and endless support through some of our hardest
days. From navigating long distance to engagements, breakups, and everything
in between, Grace has been a constant. She’s basically a doctor (not really,
but she does have her EMT, so naturally I bring her all my medical questions),
a badass skier, photographer, and so much more. Even though physical touch has
never really been her thing, she gives me the hugs I need to keep going. There
is no version of my life where I don’t want Grace in it, and I am so thankful we
get to keep growing through life together.

Kiyoshi Yamamoto
Best Man
I met Kiyoshi when he was Elizabeth’s RA in college, and we pretty quickly
realized we could nerd out together over just about anything scientific.
What started with conversations about science turned into one of those
friendships where no subject is really off limits, whether we’re talking
about lasers, life, relationships, or some completely unnecessary question
that somehow deserves an hour-long discussion. He’s now getting his PhD
in optics with a focus on lasers, and is one of the smartest, wisest,
and most level-headed people I know, which makes his advice annoyingly
difficult to argue with. He’s someone I’ve come to trust for an honest
opinion, even on the occasions when I would strongly prefer a less reasonable
one. He also took all of our engagement photos while hiding in a bush in a
ghillie suit, which probably says more about our friendship than anything
else could. When I told him he’d have to give a Best Man speech, his first
response was that he wouldn’t use AI, as if that was my primary concern.

Lea Gumper

Not many people outside of your family get to know you from
such a young age, but Lea has known me since I was eight years old
and has loved me through every awkward stage. Now my sister-in-law,
she has always been the “older sister, but better,” mostly because
she wouldn’t rat on me to my mom. (Just kidding, Mom. There was nothing
to rat on!) I’ve always admired Lea’s open heart, her ability to accept
people exactly as they are, and her gift for helping them become even
better. Now, watching her pour that same heart and wisdom into her child
(with another baby coming December 2026!) is such a joy. Being their aunt
is every bit as wonderful as I hoped, and I feel so fortunate that the little
girl she watched grow up gets to stand beside her today as her sister.

Craig is my only brother by blood, and probably the reason I love
cars and science in the first place. He had me building a model
engine when I was six, taught me to ride my first bike, and,
naturally, immediately followed that by teaching me how to skid
the back tire on said bike. He put me behind the wheel of my first
manual, a Camaro, gave me my first rifle, helped me buy my first
handgun, and gave me my first knife. Somewhere in between all of
those firsts, he also made me a wooden sword from a branch off our
mulberry tree, bark left on for the grip and the rest dipped in
stain, which is somehow still one of my favorite gifts I’ve ever
gotten. Growing up with Craig meant there was always something new
to learn, build, drive, or probably do before Mom or Dad had a
chance to object. A surprising amount of who I became can probably
be traced back to growing up with Craig. Whether that reflects
well on him is another question entirely.

At every stage of life, Abby has been there. We are only
a few weeks apart in age and “met” shortly after our births,
as our moms and older brothers were already fast friends.
Growing up, our adventures spanned everything from camping
and Girl Scouts to dance recitals and countless sleepovers,
which we were certain happened because of our stellar made
up performances for our moms. Now we step into adulthood
together with the comfort of a lifetime of friendship. As
an RN, Abby is focused, empathetic, and driven, but she is
also an incredibly talented dancer. Don’t let her humility
fool you. She has dedicated her life to her craft since
childhood. There is something so special about having someone
beside you who has known you nearly your entire life, and I
cannot imagine these years without Abby in them.

Tyler and I became friends while suffering through Discount Tire together in
Indiana, where he introduced me to my first Busch Light, country music, and
a family that immediately treated me like one of their own. What started as
two coworkers surviving long days at the shop quickly became a friendship
that made Indiana feel like home. When life gets stressful, I still mentally
go back to sitting around a fire with some country playing, where everything
seemed to slow down and it was easier to appreciate life for what it was. Tyler
has always been the kind of friend who makes the simplest nights feel like the
ones worth remembering. I’ve always been more of a Corona guy, but he still let
me light the bonfire and throw some Sade on the queue every now and then, even
if neither choice quite matched the Indiana atmosphere he was trying to create.
No matter how much time passes, those memories and the friendship behind them
will always mean a lot to me. I’ll always be grateful that working at Discount
Tire brought Tyler into my life and, through him, gave me a second family and a
place that still feels like home. Whenever life gets overwhelming, Indiana remains
the place I return to in my mind when I need everything to slow down a little.

Megan and I have always been the sisters we never had.
Growing up, we could spend hours playing make believe as
“maidens,” which mostly meant dressing up in blanket hoods
and running aimlessly around the yard with candlesticks.
She was someone I could always turn to with just about any
question, and some of my favorite childhood memories are
the ones that include her. From family vacations and pool
days to countless afternoons spent making up games and
stories, Megan was such a special part of my childhood.
Megan has a constant curiosity for the world around her
and an even deeper desire to make it better. I will always
be grateful that I got to grow up with Megan, and even more
grateful that our shared story continues into this next chapter.

Alex is Elizabeth’s brother, but he has always treated me like
one of his own, and his mom insists the two of us are remarkably
similar, whether that’s a compliment or a warning. We share the
possibly unhealthy belief that, between the two of us, we can figure
out just about anything. That confidence has led us to plenty of
ambitious projects, including pulling the engine out of his Subaru
and somehow managing to put it back in the very next day. No matter
how complicated the problem or questionable the plan, Alex is always
willing to jump in, learn as we go, and keep working until we find a
solution. Somewhere between the tools, grease, and terrible ideas
we’ve convinced ourselves were completely reasonable, he became
much more than Elizabeth’s brother. He became someone I trust,
admire, and genuinely enjoy having by my side. I’m grateful for all
the projects and memories we’ve already shared, and even more grateful
that I get to officially call him family.

Picture this: the first day of kindergarten, Mackenzie
and I nervously met after our moms encouraged us to make
conversation about each other’s backpacks, hers a very cool
light up Lightning McQueen and mine a light up Barbie. We
quickly became fast friends, and our friendship has lasted
ever since. Though we never attended the same school again
after elementary school, Mackenzie has always been a safe
place outside the day-to-day expectations of life. She
challenges me in my faith, and I admire her continued
faithfulness through every season. Now a Colorado Springs
police officer, I take every opportunity to tell her how
badass I think she is. Our streets are safer with Kenzie
out there, and yes, she’s been pepper sprayed, tased, and
can take down even the largest man in seconds, so watch out!
Through every season, Mackenzie has remained someone I can
count on, and I am incredibly grateful for a friendship
that has grown right alongside us.

Lennon Villier

Lennon is Elizabeth’s cousin and my annual beach-trip wrestling opponent.
For the record, he has never beaten me or even come particularly close, but
unfortunately for me, he’s now 17 and has started working out since our last
match. I’m still confident that my undefeated record is safe, although I may
finally have to put in some effort to keep it that way. I’ve gotten to watch
him grow from the kid I had to convince wasn’t going to die while standing on
a paddleboard into a strong, capable young man with a lot ahead of him. He
has a great sense of humor, is always ready to take on a challenge, and has
become someone I genuinely enjoy spending time with beyond our yearly competition.
It has been incredible watching him become more confident and independent with
every beach trip, even if that confidence occasionally leads him to believe this
will finally be the year he beats me. Lennon has a lot to look forward to, and I’m
grateful that I’ve had the chance to watch him grow into the person he is today. I’m
proud of the young man he is becoming, although I have absolutely no intention of
telling him I said anything that nice.

Hannah, or Miss Mismas as I call her, first made me laugh
freshman year of college and has never stopped. Truly one
of the funniest people I know, Hannah finds the joy and magic
in everyday life. From our many Razor scooter adventures to
spontaneous escapades that somehow continue today, there is
never a dull moment with her. Don’t let the humor distract you,
though. She is incredibly talented in art and graphic design,
with a natural eye for when something just looks “off.” Throughout
college, Hannah was a shoulder to lean on, but even more, a smile to
tap into. Our apartment was often filled with show tunes and poor
renditions of Taylor Swift, and she still leaves little notes,
cards, and trinkets wherever she goes. Hannah, just you wait. I
am ready to cash in my one free hug card, which thankfully never
expires. Life is simply more fun with Hannah in it, and I am so
glad I get to have her along for all that comes next.

I usually call Fischer my mountain-biking friend because that’s
how we met, but after all these years, that seriously undersells
our friendship. He took me to my first bike park and has somehow
been there for every bike park I’ve visited since. Some of my
favorite memories with him are the long days we’ve spent riding,
encouraging each other to try something new, and coming home with
stories that probably make our decisions sound less intelligent than
they felt at the time. Even though we no longer live close to each
other, Fischer still makes a point of checking in and staying
involved in my life. He is probably the most genuinely thoughtful
person I know, the kind of friend who remembers the little things,
reaches out just because, and never lets distance change the
friendship. We also share an unreasonable amount of Spider-Man
knowledge, helped by his resemblance to Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man
and his insistence that I look like Miles Morales. What began as a
friendship built around mountain biking has become one I value far
beyond the trails, and I’m incredibly grateful to have Fischer standing
beside me for this next adventure.

The only other girl growing up in our crazy extended family,
Katie has always been the organizer of chaos. As the oldest
of three girl cousins among eleven boys, she had her work cut
out for her from the beginning and somehow became a role model
for us all. I have so many fond memories of visiting Katie at
the beach, where she would make every single family member a
handmade friendship bracelet in their favorite colors. As I
got older, Katie went from vacation babysitter to an older,
wiser sister. The first time I drank was under Katie’s care
(sorry, Mom), with Megan, Lea, and her wife Steph by our side.
We spent the day at the pool trying every alcohol to see “what
I like,” all while attempting to take a phone call from my mom
and aunt. From organizing the annual Villier Family Olympics to
always being ready to laugh at the sheer insanity of our family,
Katie has been part of so many of my favorite memories, and I
am so grateful that she will be part of this one too.

Zach is Elizabeth’s brother and someone I’ve always respected for how
level-headed and logical he is. He thinks things through, gives good
advice, and has always made a point of including me and making me
feel like part of the family. Over the years, I’ve also come to
appreciate his dry sense of humor and the quiet way he looks out
for the people around him. He never needs to be the loudest person
in the room to make his presence felt, and he brings a steady,
reassuring energy to every family gathering. He’s someone I genuinely
look up to and consider a good role model, despite the permanent
stain on his character from marrying Lea without inviting me to the
wedding. His defense is that “we hadn’t met yet,” which, while
technically true, feels far too convenient to qualify as an apology.

Flower Girl
Charlotte Rose Morrison is a dancer, singer, rock collector, duck enthusiast,
and full-time ray of sunshine. When she’s not putting on a show, she’s busy
searching for treasures outside, spending time with her dog Chip, or making
sure no duck goes unnoticed. Her favorite foods include tomatoes, cucumbers,
spaghetti, and her dad’s chicken wings, which have earned the highest rating possible
from her very selective taste-testing committee. She is also a strong supporter of
bubbles and the 1991 Wiggles, two things she believes deserve far more recognition.
As our Flower Girl, Charlotte brings joy, charm, and expert-level flower girl energy.
She has graciously squeezed our wedding into her packed calendar of adventures,
performances, and snacks, and we couldn't be happier to have her.

Matthew Gumper
Ring Bearer
Matthew is a seasoned two-year-old professional whose primary occupation is hockey, a
demanding career he balances with his other interests: trucks, snacks, and enjoying a
cold bottle with his uncle, as pictured. As the son of Zach, he brings a strong sense
of family loyalty, excellent comedic timing, and considerable experience being the most
important person in any room. Though still relatively early in his career, Matthew has
already established himself as a respected authority on heavy machinery (Tonka trucks), competitive
play, and making his opinions known. He approaches his role as Ring Bearer with the
seriousness it deserves and has graciously agreed to take time away from his busy
professional and social calendar to join us on our wedding day.
